Senate Discusses "Homeland Security" This Morning

By: Kasey Lynae

What really goes on in our Government hearings? Many people watch hearings, but most know that it’s a waste of time. I wasted an hour and a half of my time for you to watch the Live CSPAN footage of the Homeland Security Discussions on the Senate Floor this morning. This is what I heard…

Rashida Talib (D) Michigan made an appearance today. She boohooed over the Israel/ Palestine conflict during her entire 5-minute speech. She was so angry and emotional that she actually went over her time and talked over the speaker, who said, “Time is up.” Talib seems unaware of her homeland location, considering the United States of America is nowhere near Israel. Nevertheless, she brought this topic to the Senate floor when it was really time to discuss the border.

Earl Blumenauer (D) Oregon appeared to discuss the war on drugs. But of course, in true Democratic fashion, the discussion had nothing to do with fentanyl coming over the border or any drug crisis being so apparent in blue cities across the nation that Americans are homeless on the streets and throwing needles around. No, he brought the not-so-novel idea this morning to legalize marijuana nationwide. Again, no mention of the border crisis.

Nick Langworthy (R) New York brought an honorable mention to the Senate floor and brought to attention a school principal who passed away. Langworthy missed an opportunity to discuss the fact that his home state kicked kids out of school this week to house illegal immigrants. While it’s nice to honor people, it’s a waste of time and taxpayer dollars on the Senate floor—no mention of the border crisis.

Kathy Manning (R), North Carolina, was another representative who brought an honorable mention to the Senate floor. Again, honoring the Greensboro police officer who was shot five times and killed by a black kid over less than $100 of beer is a nice and lovely thing to do. Again, it has no place on the Senate floor. The media needs more of these stories, but taxpayers are not interested in wasting time in our government—no mention of the border crisis.

Andrew Clyde (R) Georgia highlighted some wonderful points on fiscal collapse and the national deficit. He stated that as of two days ago, we have a 34 trillion-dollar deficit. This was great information; however, it was misplaced at a meeting about Homeland Security. Clyde made no mention of the border crisis.

Marc Molinaro (R) New York was another New York representative to miss the opportunity to discuss illegals replacing American teenagers and taking precedence over Americans just yesterday. What did Molinaro discuss? He made an honorable mention of high school football championships—an absolute waste of time and no mention of the border crisis.

Finally, in the hour-and-a-half meeting on homeland security, two individuals actually brought the issue of illegal immigration to the Senate floor. One Democrat and one Republican discussed relevant issues.

Elissa Slotkin (D) Michigan did discuss illegal immigration. She mentioned the topic was a crisis for everyone. She mentioned bipartisan laws and discussions were not working. Unfortunately, in the usual Democratic fashion, Slotkin believes we should be doing more to make illegal immigrants comfortable and claims we have “plenty of room” for them in our job sectors.

John Joyce (R) Pennsylvania spoke about the crisis in New York yesterday that the Republican senators who spoke completely ignored. Honestly, it's good for Joyce to speak up about Illegal Immigrants taking priority over American children. He was the only senator in the entire meeting that made the argument about shutting down the border.
