As the Houthis' attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea escalate, the US and its allies launched airstrikes against the Iran-backed rebels on Thursday.
More than 20 Houthi targets were hit, including command and control centers, weapons depots, launch sites, and air defense systems. US, British, French, and Saudi Arabian warplanes, drones, and cruise missiles were used in the strikes.
Biden said the strikes were necessary to protect US interests and allies in the region, as well as deter further aggression by Iran's proxy, the Houthis.
"These strikes send a clear message to the Houthis and their Iranian sponsors that we will not tolerate their reckless and unlawful behavior in the Red Sea and beyond," Biden (or his teleprompter) said in a statement. "We will continue to defend our partners and the free flow of commerce in this vital waterway."
After the Houthis launched their largest-ever barrage of drones and missiles against ships in the Red Sea on Tuesday, the US and Britain announced a retaliatory strike. Both the US and British militaries said they shot down 18 drones and two cruise missiles.
After the Israel-Hamas war started last May, the Houthis have ramped up their attacks on Red Sea shipping. In addition to attacking Saudi Arabian oil tankers, cargo ships, and military vessels, the rebels also attacked a US destroyer.
In violation of a UN arms embargo, the US and its allies accuse Iran of providing advanced weapons and technology to the Houthis. Why should they answer to us after all, when President Biden gave them $6 Billion dollars in September 2023? Although Iran denies arming the rebels, it supports their cause.
Yemen's conflict brewed in 2014, when the Houthis seized Sanaa and ousted the internationally recognized government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi. Despite a Saudi-led coalition intervening in 2015, the war has been a stalemate, killing more than 100,000 people and displacing millions.
Despite supporting the Saudi-led coalition with intelligence, logistics, and weapons sales, the US has also been criticized for its role in the war from looney Pro-Palestinian protestors for the supposed humanitarian crisis it caused. Biden has pledged to end US support for offensive operations in Yemen, caving to the tension at home and massage surge in mentally ill protestors.
UN peace talks have been stalled by Houthi attacks and the coalition's blockade of Houthi-held areas. The UN Security Council, mostly operated by alphabet soup constituents, has condemned the Houthi attacks and called for an immediate cease-fire and a resumption of negotiations.
Many people took to X, formerly known as Twitter in a panic over a potential third world war. The possibility of just about anything sparking another world war right before the 2024 election, is quite high.
There is no way any logical mind could blindly believe Biden and his handlers have no idea what they are doing when they throw money to the enemy months before an attack. In return, the administration got exactly what they wanted - an attack of US and our allies months before the biggest election for our country and mass fear instilled in Americans crying on the internet.
Luckily, there are enough of us out there to attempt salvation on our beloved country in November.
